In a previous blog, I spoke about the importance of homeschooling tools for a meaningful education, and my own home schooling resources. Now, I am going to reveal some features of my home schooling resources.

My homeschooling resources are in the form of an online library of video tutorials. The basic principle behind my home schooling resources is that every learner has a preferred sensory learning profile — visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. Most teachers are visual learners, themselves. So, they get annoyed with kids they think aren’t paying attention, in class. In fact, a child who prefers auditory learning might actually be listening to what you are saying even if he/ she is apparently not paying attention.

In my home schooling program, I’ve aimed at making children aware they have not 1 but 3 brains. (We are all endowed with multiple intelligences — bodily/ physical, mathematical/ logical, musical, naturalist, visual/ spatial, etc.)

The homeschooling tools also take into account the different stages of learning a learner goes through, and the different emotions that come into play, at each stage.

My homeschooling programs have various other sections, beginning with a ‘focus and concentration section’. I have built my home schooling resources on the premise that every learner has an ideal state of learning. The brain is like a TV station with 4 channels. Teach a child on the wrong channel and it could lead to ‘Creative Avoidance’.

There’s additional homeschooling help, in my advanced reading section — 2 videos to assist children in reading with greater speed and better comprehension.

Also, my home schooling resources have a memory section — practical information about memory techniques used by great world memory champions.

Learners who access my homeschooling online will also benefit from the creative learning section (Walt Disney’s continuous learning process ) I have included in my home schooling resources.

Other sections of my home schooling resources include

Mind Mapping,

Edward De Bono’s 6 Thinking Hats,

The Answer S.A.M. Technique,

The Big Picture (relating to sleep, exercise, diet, etc.),

Learning To Unlearn, and

The Work Of Byron Katie

I have rounded off my home schooling resources with a final section that deals with improving your handwriting, learning a foreign language, and overcoming writer’s block.

Why Homeschool Resources? My readers may wonder why I am writing about homeschool resources. The reasons are many, but if you asked me to summarize, I would put it down to the many problems that traditional education has:

In traditional methods of teaching, we show students what to learn, but never how to learn.

We don’t give them the tools to use to break the information down so they can understand and own it.

We mislead students into believing the power is in the book, and not within themselves. We fail to show them how they can control their learning, themselves.

We impose our own ideas on students, about things such as the right time to study, the kind of chair they should use, how much water they should drink, their diet habits, the frequency and nature of breaks they should take from studying, the neatness of their desks, and so on.

They would be better off if we gave them homeschool courses that teach them how to focus and concentrate, transfer information from short to long term memory, switch on the thinking part of the brain, and cultivate a love for learning. Such homeschool help should also include assistance to read at a greater speed with better comprehension, take notes that are actually in tune with the way one’s brain naturally learns, etc. You can achieve all of these with relative ease, using homeschool resources.

Typically, in our traditional mode of learning, students study for an exam only to forget everything again, soon after. You cannot expect better, when teachers themselves have never been shown how the brain really learns. I should know, because I was one for ten years. I was never given the proper training to show my students how they as individuals learn best. I have since learned… the hard way. In fact, I wish I had had homeschool resources when I was a child. That way, I wouldn’t have had to go through the grind I have been subjected to, in life.

To insure that students of the future benefit from my knowledge, and don’t have the same problems as students of the present and past, I have put together my own homeschool resources. My homeschool tools comprise an online library of video tutorials that will show you, step by step, exactly how you as an individual can learn best. My homeschool information will also show you where you can learn best: with a helping hand from homeschool material, in the comfort of your home!
